1965 Mustang Convertible 5F08C273429
This Mustang is a nice driver class "C code" 289 convertible in the factory Caspian Blue with white top interior color scheme. I believe the engine and trans are original. The door warranty tag is original.
This car was reportedly restored in the 1990's but I have no records from that or any other historical data. It was purchased at a Carlisle show by a Mustang enthusiast for his 16 year old daughter. She kept the car until she was 28, when I bought it from her in December of 2009. She was engaged to be married and sold the Mustang to make a down payment on a home.
Although well kept, this Mustang's mostly cosmetic restoration was done to the standard of the time and had some patina by the time I got it. The paint is very nice. All chrome and trim is new or as new. The top is in very good condition but has a few small cuts where it contacted the wheelhouse seams when folded down - this was an oversight by whoever restored the car and we have fixed the cause but are not replacing the top.
I have gone thorough this convertible and refreshed it extensively. The interior is all new, and we have examined and repaired all of the car's mechanical systems as required (brakes, exhaust, suspension, steering etc). It has a current PA safety inspection sticker. All of the lights and accessories work.
We dropped the pan on the engine as these "restorations" often omit any substantial mechanical work. I was pleasantly surprised to discover a very clean engine inside with some markings evidencing a rebuild.
I also installed new whitewall radial tires. There is also a matching new spare on a styled steel wheel. All of the wheels are original, not reproductions.
The body is in good condition overall, although it has received metal work including floor pan replacement. The workmanship was examined while the interior was out being reupholstered, and everything appears to have been done in a good professional manner.
I have driven this car extensively and it is quite smooth and reliable on the road. It has done several trips of up to three hours in duration with no problems.
